This Tuesday at the Black Dog on Whyte Avenue, HangtTime is going to be the biggest and best HangTime ever. We have special guests from all over the world, which we have snatched with our greasy foreclaws from Improvaganza! Comedy from members of the Crumbs, Picnicface (creators of the YouTube hit Powerthirst) and Toronto's PROJECTproject are just a few of the juicy things we have planned. Also, a performance from Beartrap music composer Cellolitis, which will blow your mind with its awessomeness. Show starts at 9:30 PM, but you had better get there early, it's going to be packed!
As well, Mike's film Anna got into the Sled Island Music and Film Festival in Calgary this month and will be playing there on the 27th of June. If you are in Calgary or know someone who does, be sure to check out the film. It's playing as part of the FAVA showcase. It's gonna be awesome.

The latest film in the HighWire Films shorts ouvre, The Stank, will be making its world premiere at NextFest FilmFest on June 12th, 2010. A film about a man who's unfortunate encounter with a derelict leads to his life falling apart. It's gross-out humour with heart, it's 11 minutes of Voodoo Hobo madness. Be sure to check out the NextFest website for more information on the festival and the films.
If you haven't seen our latest sketch, The Perfect High, be sure to check it out......... BELOW!!

Big news everyone! On MAY 19th, 2010, we will be hosting a party, a celebration of our work. A NIGHT OF HIGHWIRE FILMS, it's called. We have two programs planned. The first one is a shorts program, where we will be screening three of our prominent short films. First off is Anna, Mike's film about the girl who is a palindrome. Then the eccentric and sad comedy Buddies. The short program will conclude with the debut of Arlen's film lovesick, about the trials of falling in love in high school. The trailer for lovesick is above. Watch it!
Following the shorts program will be a gala screening of Beartrap, our horror-comedy that opened to great acclaim last winter. All this will happen at the Metro in downtown Edmonton. Mark it on your calenders, friends!
Also: We were nominated for some AMPIAS! The Alberta Motion Picture Industry Association Awards (the Alberta version of the Oscars, if you will) nominated us for four awards. Two for best picture and two for best writing. Beartrap was nominated for best film, Buddies was nominated for best short film (fiction), and they were both nominated for best writing in their categories. That's amazing! The awards are May 15th, we'll let you know how it goes! Wish us luck!
NEXT HANGTIME June 22nd, 2010! In the Black Dog Basement, as always!!
